ALLEN, Texas – The White House, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and others issued statements following reports of a shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas.

Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement following the shooting, saying in part, “Our hearts go out to the people of Allen, Texas tonight during this unspeakable tragedy.”
Abbott said he is in contact with City of Allen Mayor Ken Fulk, DPS Director Steven C. McCraw, North Texas law enforcement and city officials “to ensure that all necessary assistance and resources are rapidly deployed, including DPS officers, Texas Rangers, and investigative assets.”
Senator Ted Cruz tweeted that he and his wife are praying for the victims of the shooting and the greater Collin County community.

U.S. Representative Colin Allred, who recently announced he was running for Cruz’s senatorial seat, reacted to the shooting in a tweet Saturday night.
“Families like mine who go shopping on Saturdays will be forever changed by this terrible tragedy,” Allred wrote. “Some won’t make it home. Aly and I are praying for everyone who has been affected by this.”
U.S. Representative Keith Self for Texas’ 3rd congressional district, which includes Collin County, also released a statement on his social media pages.
In a tweet, Self said, “We are devastated by the tragic news of the shootings that occurred today at the Allen Premium Outlets. Our prayers are with the victims, their families and all law enforcement agencies present at the scene.”
Self added that Allen PD is “in full control of the scene”.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson’s office called the event a horrific and devastating tragedy in a tweet.
