The SWAT situation ends with the arrest of the suspect with 3 felony warrants
Austin, Texas – One person is in jail after a SWAT situation at a southeast Austin apartment complex Monday night.
At around 7:30 p.m., Austin police say they were looking for a person with three felony warrants.
Officers found him at the Douglas Landing Apartments on Douglas Street near East Oltorf and Pleasant Valley.
Police say the suspect ran into an apartment and didn’t want to come out, so they called the SWAT team at around 9:23pm
The suspect surrendered shortly before 11:00 p.m. and was taken to the Travis County Jail.
Police say there were several people inside the apartment with him who were taken out and several apartments have been evacuated.
EMS evaluated six people, but all were well and no injuries were reported.
APD says it is grateful to the Texas DPS for assistance in blocking off roads during the SWAT call.
“Henry Sector is one of our lowest manned sectors, unfortunately, and they were able to come out and help out, immense help, much appreciated, to come down here and close the roads,” said Senior Police Officer Demitri Hobbs.
Police did not release information about the purpose of the warrants; they just said it was all felony charges.
