One person died following a home fire early Tuesday in Fort Worth. A pet also died inside the house.
Fort Worth Fire Department responded at about 4:15 a.m. to a call about two people trapped inside a burning house on the 300 block of Wayne Street near Beach and East First Streets, according to the department. They found smoke and flames coming from a one-story house.
“Knowing there were people inside, firefighters immediately kicked in the back door of the house and rushed in to rescue them,” the department said in a news release.
Two people who were taken out of the burning house were treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
One of the two, whose name has not been released, died in hospital, according to the department. The conditions of the second person are not clear.
One of the four pets inside the home also died, the department said. They didn’t say what kind of animal it was.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
