East Side Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio Gets Revamped Teen Center

SAN ANTONIO On Tuesday, teenagers who hang out at the Boys and Girls Club on the East Side of San Antonio get a special surprise.

The teen center has been updated and provides a safe and fun environment for them.

“This space is special to our teenagers because they have chosen every aspect of this space,” said Ada Saenz, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio. “This is a teenage center where they go after school. They come every summer. They get a lot of different programs here. They hang out. They do their homework.”

Aaron’s donated $20,000 for new furniture, arcade machines, televisions and gaming systems.

“They have their own kitchen with a deep fryer and a microwave,” said Brandalyn Morris, branch director of the San Antonio Boys and Girls Clubs.

There is also a new computer lab that will be used for educational purposes. Teenagers can explore scholarship opportunities and do their homework.

When teenagers finish school today, they will be able to enjoy the new space.

“They know it’s a safe place. A bully-free zone and it’s a place of education. We provide them with opportunities and programs to ensure they have a great future,” Saenz said.
