Video shows woman stealing submachine gun from Converse shooting range, owner says
CONVERSE, Texas “The owner of the Converse shooting range says a woman stole a machine gun on Friday and he hopes someone will identify her and get that gun off the streets.
Josh Felker, owner of the LoneStar Handgun, located at 2 Amendment Way, shared photos and video of a woman who he says stole an MP5 submachine gun around 2:00 pm on Friday.
The woman provided a driver’s license to rent a handgun, went and fired it, and soon returned to rent a machine gun, the business owner said in an email to customers.
Felker said the woman got out of the LoneStar Handgun after renting a machine gun, got into the extended cab of a late-model white Ford Ranger and drove away.
The license plates on the car were not visible due to the fact that the back door was lowered. The truck was also parked away from the cameras.
According to Felker, the driver’s license turned out to be in the possession of a person who died in a car fire in December 2022 and who looked like the victim.
“We have theft prevention policies in place that include trigger locks when renting, keeping a valid ID while renting, and using a credit card for a transaction. The employee who rented the firearm to her did not follow company policy and accepted cash for rent,” Felker said in an email.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the woman also provided a fake phone number and email address.
According to US special forces, the MP5 submachine gun is capable of firing up to 800 rounds per minute.
The BCSO identified the weapon as a fully automatic 9mm MP5 Heckler Koch valued at around $2,500.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. If you have any information about this suspect, please call the BCSO at 210-335-6000.
